THE 1st ANNUAL ST. JOHNS GOLF TOURNAMENT will take place Saturday, June 21 at Lake Junaluska Golf Course. This is a great opportunity for fellowship and fun. Prizes will be awarded during the post-tourney cookout. All proceeds will benefit the building fund, so we can complete the activity center below the new church. We hope to see you there!
THANKS to everyone that helped make the spring Newcomers' Dinner a tremendous success. We had 31 new families invited to the dinner on March 28. We also extend a warm welcome to all of you. Everyone had a nice time and enjoyed the appetizers, lasagna, meatballs & sauce, rolls, salad and desserts. Many parishioners helped with theby sending invitations, creating a lovely setting, baking, and, of course, doing dishes. The dinner is sponsored twice a year by the Parish Council and the Stewardship Committee.

Catholic Women’s Circle: The Longaberger Basket Bingo was a complete success. We would like to thank the members of the Bingo Committee and the CWC for doing a wonderful job hosting this event. However, we could not have done it without the enthusiastic support of the entire parish and the Waynesville Community. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the entire parish and the CWC for helping make this first bingo event such a success. Special thanks to Fr. Larry for getting the bingo crowd excited leading them in singing B-I-N-G-O!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! The food pantry is still in desperate need of donations. Please bring items to Mass or drop them off at the office. People will go hungry if we do not provide for their needs. We need YOUR help because you are the hands and feet of Christ!
OPEN DOOR SERVICE: St. John’s parishioners cook and serve meals for the less fortunate on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month at the Open Door Soup Kitchen. We welcome volunteer servers and soup chiefs. It’s a great way to meet your fellow church members and also serve God. Please call Don Thompson at 456-5618 for more information.

CHURCH HUMOR: A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said that it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. The teacher reiterated that a whale could not possibly swallow a human. The little girl said, “when I get to heaven, I will ask Jonah”. The teacher said, “what if Jonah went to hell?” The little girl replied, “then you ask him! “
